The U.S. Department of State recently advised exercising increased caution (Level 2) in Mexico due to crime, kidnapping, and potential terrorism, as of August 2025. Keep that in mind. Always notify the US Embassy when you're travelling outside the country.

When I went in 2017 and 2018, we stayed in all-inclusive hotels which was especially great as a college student on a budget.

That means unlimited fresh tacos and unlimited warm tequila shots. We had a great time. The clubs are very extravagant, Coco Bongo, Mandala Beach Club, or check out D'Cave's revolving dance floor.
